The 69th Army receives the 1st Guards Cavalry Corps in reinforcement and with the 12th Tank Corps manages to counter-attack near Karpova to close the breach. The 2nd Guards Tank Corps escapes from the south of the city and joins the workers improving the defense of Stalingrad.
